On My Mind…Lately

1.  Designlovefest Desktop Wallpapers.  I just got a new computer, and still have the generic background set up (boring, I know!).  These adorable and fun desktop wallpapers from designlovefest are just the splash of color I’ve needed.  There are 6 adorable options created by Emily Isabella, and I honestly can’t decide which I like more: the floral one or the dot one.

2.  Colorful Fabric.  If you following me on Pinterest (which you should if you don’t already!) you may have noticed that I’m currently a little fabric crazy.  I’m on the hunt for the perfect patterned fabric for my upcoming dining chair makeover, and while I’ve narrowed it down to about 15 fabrics (waiting on swatches in the mail), I keep being drawn to these two.  The top is called Aurora Ikat by Calico Corners, and the bottom is British Bouquet by Caitlin Wilson Textiles.  Which one do you think I should go with?

3.  Life With a Dash of Whimsy finally has a facebook page!  Follow along to get all the latest blog info in your news feed!  And follow me on instagram too for a daily dash of whimsy.

4.  I bought this AMAZING raincoat last weekend at J.Crew.  It’s waxed linen with gold clasps…and it has me hoping for a big rain storm so I can wear this beauty.  Somehow managed to get it for half the price, even though it’s not even marked down at all on the website.  Score!

5.  Triathlon.  I’m doing my very first triathlon on Sunday!  It’s a super-sprint called the Sharkbite 300, and the distance is pretty short, but I’m still a bit anxious (and excited) to get my first one under my belt.  I’m so dang competitive that even though I’m just doing this for familiarization and practice, I know I’ll try to go as fast as I can in hopes of getting a medal.  Probably should have spent some more time in the pool and on the bike, but I’m still hopeful!

6.  Jack Johnson.  Tom and I went to a Jack Johnson concert last night!  I’ve been a Jack fan for about 10 years now, and his music always transports me back to lazy Hawaiian days spent on the beach in Waikiki.  It’s was held at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD, which was a really neat venue with great food and drink options.  The late night (and multiple sangrias) made getting up for work today I little harder than usual (who am I kidding…it’s always hard for me), but it was totally worth it.

I hope y’all have a great weekend!

I'm so pumped — I've been looking for some awesome new desktop wallpaper and LOVE the Emily Isabella dot pattern. I've already uploaded it to my laptop and it is too cute. Thanks!

I love the second fabric, the British Bouquet by Caitlin Wilson Textiles! I think it gives you that pattern and quirk that you're probably going for, but without being overwhelming. And it gives you a lot of options to play off of, color wise!
    Happy Weekend!

I would go with the Ikat fabric/ your first choice. I feel like it goes along with the current navy/blue and hot pink combo.

So glad you like it Anna! Yeah as soon as I saw the wallpapers I knew I had to share. So adorable! I have the flower one as my desktop now, although I'm sure I'll switch back and forth with the dot one 🙂

Thanks for the input, Hazel! The only thing keeping me from jumping on that one is the price…$69.99 a yard…yikes! It's so much fun though, so I may go for it.

I love that one too! I'm torn because I love so many fabrics at the moment. It's going to be a tough decision!
