Our bedroom has undergone quite a transformation since we moved in last summer.  It’s still a work in progress, but today I wanted to share where we are right now.  With the newly painted blue walls and trim, the bold gold velvet drapes, and the beautiful wrapped canvas abstract artwork from Urban Garden Prints, we have a moody vibe going on now in here and I absolutely love it.  It started out as an unremarkable beige square but now it’s a restful place and that I look forward to retreating to every night.

We have a wrapped canvas over our queen sized bed and I love that this style makes it look like it’s an original piece of artwork.  The piece we have is Emily Simpson’s The Marks and the Moments in size 40″x30″ with a canvas frame in gold.  A bed is such a focal point in a bedroom and I knew we needed something that made an impact.  This piece certainly fit the bill!  I had contemplated getting Emily Simpson’s Canopy of Light, but ultimately decided on The Marks and the Moments because it was a little darker and moodier.

I still can’t decide whether or not I want to paint our ceiling the same color as the walls.  The tray ceiling makes it hard to figure out!  Or maybe I’ll paint the part of the ceiling touching the walls (and the molding) but wallpaper the tray part.  I also want to remove the can lights and have those patched, and then add a pretty ceiling fan.  I know a light fixture would be prettier but I love sleeping with a fan on in the summer so practicality is likely going to win out. This is the fan I’m thinking of getting.

Bedding details can be found in this blog post, and the formula for our blue paint can be found in this blog post.  All of the furniture has been found secondhand (thrift stores, facebook marketplace, or estate sales).  I purchased the bamboo shades from a company called MOOD and I love them so much.  They’ve since given me a discount code to share, so use code MOODxKatie for 10% off your purchase on their site.  The headboard is painted BM Hale Navy, but I’m not really sure if it’s the best fit, so TBD on whether the color stays.  Questions or comments?  Please leave them below!

Love the artwork! I agree that it really brings the space together. My vote would be to leave the ceilings alone.
