With these 20 simple pieces you can put together outfits for any occasion, and over the next few blog posts I’ll share over 20 outfit ideas using a combination of these 20 pieces.  You don’t have to have these exact items, but if you have similar pieces in your closet you can easily create similar outfits using what you have on hand.  But if you’re looking to buy some timeless pieces I can wholeheartedly recommend everything here!

20 Timeless Pieces for a Classic Spring Wardrobe

  • White t-shirt– This simple t-shirt is $16.95 from J.Crew Factory.  I’ve had it for over a year and it’s a great staple t-shirt to have in your closet.  It runs true to size.
  • Fun block print top– This block print top is called the Tanner Top and it’s from Chakeris.  Code Katie10 will save you 10% on the site!  It comes in a number of colors and prints and I have it in two colors (hot pink vine and green vine).  It’s such a beautiful and flattering top to wear with jeans and skirts.  It runs true to size.
  • White button down shirt– This gauze button down shirt is a 10/10!  I have the original J.Crew version as well as J.Crew Factory’s version, which is the one that is currently available.  It runs true to size and is a nice casual button down (no ironing ever required due to the gauze fabric) that I wear all year long.  It is currently $39.95 and it comes in a number of colors.
  • Striped boatneck t-shirt– Nothing beats a simple striped boatneck t-shirt.  I have an old version of this top, but the current version from J.Crew looks practically the same.  I love a boatneck and the blue and white stripes go well with blue denim and white denim.  This top is currently $36.50.
  • Sweater tank– I’ve been wearing this under $30 Amazon sweater tank since 2021.  I love it so much and own it in 5 colors!  Beige and khaki are my most worn colors, though I also have it in black, green, and hot pink.  Runs true to size.  Just make sure you have a bra that allows you to crisscross the straps in the back to avoid visible bra straps.
  • White wide leg jeans–  Any white jeans will do, but I’m loving the white Colette wide leg jeans from Anthropologie.  I sized up a size in this white version.  I’m 5’5″ and the regular length hits right at my ankles.  Can’t say enjoy great things about these flattering wide leg jeans!
  • Denim wide leg jeans–  I’ve had the Colette denim cropped wide leg jeans from Anthropologie since last summer and love them so much.  They run true to size and I wear them all the time!  This blog post from last year shares some ideas on how to style them.
  • Trench coat–  Every woman needs a classic trench coat in their wardrobe and this trench coat from J.Crew Factory is my favorite.  I’ve had it since 2020 and wear it all the time!  It runs true to size and is currently on sale for $148.
  • Block print dress–  This new block print dress from the Society Social x Belk collaboration is beautiful and so easy to wear!  Great for dressing up and down depending on the shoes you wear with it.  It runs true to size and is currently on sale for about $55.
  • Cable knit cardigan–  I invested in this timeless cable knit cardigan with gold buttons earlier this year and know I will wear it for years to come.  It’s a great layering piece but can also be worn buttoned up on it’s own.  It runs true to size and is currently on sale for $74.50.
  • Raffia headbands–  I bought this pair of raffia headbands last March and they’re the perfect puffy headband option for spring and summer!  They come as a pack of 2 for $11.99 on Amazon.
  • Wicker earrings–  I love a pair of statement earrings, but I like my statement earrings to be neutral most of the time.  These wicker earrings from Lisi Lerch fit the bill!
  • Packable sunhat–  I’ve had this Tuckernuck sunhat for about 6 years.  It’s packable, adjustable, and the bow is nice and feminine.  It’s $65 and comes with a number of different bow color options.
  • Gold hoops–  I wear these French twist gold hoops all the time!  They’re $38 and a great size that go with everything.  I also like this smaller pair of gold hoops from Tuckernuck.
  • Neutral belt–  I have the older version of this seagrass and rattan belt from J.McLaughlin and I love wearing it with dresses at my natural waist as well as with pants.  If you’re looking for a more affordable option, this Anthropologie belt will give you a similar look, as would this Amazon belt!
  • Dainty necklace–  I have worn a similar dainty diamond necklace from Tiffany every day for the past 14 years.  It’s the perfect understated size and I never take it off.  The Tiffany one is pricier because you’re paying for the name brand, but this one from Ana Luisa looks just the same as the one I have, but it’s only $213.  If you’re looking for an even more affordable option, I have this CZ version from Amazon and it looks just the same too!  More details on the story behind my necklace can be found in this blog post.
  • Wicker handbag–  I have an older version of this wicker handbag from J. McLaughlin and I absolutely love it.  The wicker is great for warm weather outfits, and the bamboo handle is beautiful.  I love that it has a removable cross body strap, and that’s how I wear it most of the time.  It’s a beautiful and timeless bag!  This bamboo handled handbag from Mark and Graham looks similar and is about half the cost.
  • Raffia mules–  These $24.99 raffia mules from Target are a must-have for 2024!  I’ve been wearing them with everything, and they are so comfortable!  They run true to size and the buckle makes them look really high end.  Great warm weather alternative to loafers.
  • Neutral Mary Jane block heels–  I bought these Mary Jane block heels (babies) from Sezane a few weeks ago and fell in love with them immediately.  They’re a great walkable height and they are very comfortable and lady-like.  I now want them in more colors!
  • White sneakers–  White Tretorn sneakers have been a staple in my wardrobe for years.  They are comfortable and classic.  I highly recommend Tretorn Nylites if you’re looking for a timeless pair of white sneakers that won’t be going out of style any time soon.
