I love wardrobe staples that have versatility.  I purchased the black Lennox dress from Tuckernuck this past fall and since then I’ve worn it 3 different times to 3 very different events.  This long black dress with sleeves is the perfect option for fall and winter when you want to dress up but don’t want to freeze.  Here are the 3 ways I’ve worn it so far, to show that it really is a versatile dress that is a great addition to any wardrobe!  The dress runs true to size and is an interesting knit fabric that has some stretch to it and does not attract lint.  It is tough to wrinkle, too!  The top is fitted but it’s looser through the hips.  It has balloon sleeves that are on trend but not so large that they’re too trendy, and they close with a faux pearl button.

Look 1:  Church on a Chilly January Day

I grabbed my favorite chunky socks (Amazon!) and opted to wear my tall heeled brown boots that I bought from J.Crew in 2020.  Black and brown are a classic combination, and when you wear them boldly and with intention they immediately look chic.  I hadn’t washed my hair in a couple of days so I gathered it in a low ponytail and added my favorite velvet black headbandFrench twist gold hoops complete the look.  These are a perfect size and I wear them often.  Not pictured- I wore this classic and feminine coat (I have the old version) and carried my brown Barrington tote (gotta have room to hold all the random kid things).

Look 2: Date Night in DC in November

Tom and I went on a double date back in November and I wore this dress but instead of wearing it with boots, I paired it with some old tortoise heels from J. McLaughlin (again, I love black and brown together- these are under $100 now in a couple sizes).  I carried a hard sided tortoise clutch, which was an Amazon find from a few months back.  It can be used with or without a gold chain and looks high end at a fraction of the cost.  For earrings, I opted for a favorite statement pair from Tuckernuck.  They’re large yet lightweight and at this point I have this style in 5 different colors and wear them all frequently.  I wore my velvet black headband again and this long camel coat.  The coat is more of a fall-weight, not winter-weight.  It runs big so size down.  It’s half off right now!

Look 3: Family Halloween Event

I needed to be able to chase after my costume-clad children at a halloween event but I still wanted to look pulled together, so I wore this black dress with my Birdies mules.  (Use code STRIPESANDWHIMSY10 for 10% off all Birdies shoes).  The mules are dressy yet comfy and they run true to size.  Birdies truly are my favorite flats- they feel like clouds because of how the insoles are constructed!  Since it was a Halloween event I grabbed a witch hat and added bats to my earrings.  Sunglasses are an old style from Mohala Eyewear (code katiev saves you 15%) and tote is Longchamp that I bought back in 2012 to carry when I was in an Army uniform.
