The Best Vest

chic vest - classic style

Over the years I’ve worn a vest once or twice a year (outside of running), but always felt like I was gearing up to go on an adventure rather than putting together a chic outfit.  I finally found one I love though, so I wanted to share that today.

My new favorite vest is the Barbour Betty Liner that also zips into the Barbour Beadnell Jacket (the primary reason I got it), but turns out I also love it on it’s own over a timeless cream turtleneck.  The vest runs small, so size up one size (I’m normally a 4 but have this vest and the accompanying jacket in a 6).  I have the jacket in navy but opted to get the liner/vest in olive.  The vest is quilted on the outside and fleece on the inside and it’s incredibly comfortable with internal and external pockets.  I think that the reason it reads as chic rather than “adventure” is because it cuts down in the front and doesn’t have the taller neckline, like a traditional vest does.  My J.McLaughlin Arlette turtleneck is impossibly chic and classic.  The buttons on the cuff elevate it even more and make it dressier, and the ribbing makes it incredibly flattering.  It runs true to size.  Demi-boot crop jeans are my go-to these days, and while mine are old, this pair will get you a similar look.  These small gold hoops are $38 and they’re the perfect size to go with any outfit.  Ballet flats are a wardrobe staple, and I love that J.Crew makes them every year.  Mine are old but here and here are some current options.  Sunglasses are Mohala Eyewear and code katiev saves you 10%.
