This year I decided to spring for some extra festive touches for our home, and this tartan bedding is one of my favorite recent additions! When we lived in Hawaii we used a simple white quilt on our bed year-round, but now that we live in Northern Virginia and it gets much colder in the winter I wanted to start using a duvet again. This Stewart tartan bedding from Pottery Barn spoke to me as soon as I saw it, and I’m so glad I decided to buy it because it makes me smile every time I walk into our bedroom. It’s extra tough getting out of bed these days because it’s so nice and toasty under the covers! We purchased the Euro sham size for the pillows and I love the fluffy oversized look. This is my first time ever having Euro shams on a bed and I’m officially a fan! These are the affordable inserts we like (I also have them in a smaller size inside of my favorite Serena and Lily cushion covers).

I also purchased affordable cream flannel sheets from Target and that was the best decision ever. They’re so soft and warm and remind me of childhood when I’d go visit my grandparents in the North Georgia mountains because I don’t think I’ve slept in a bed with flannel sheets since then. They’re normally $27 for the queen sized set but are currently on sale for $20.25. The cozy down comforter we have inside the duvet cover is nice and warm, despite being the lightest weight down option from this brand. I can’t imagine needing anything heavier and it’s currently $37 off (down to $111.75)! The red cable knit pillow is really soft and adds a festive pop of color. It’s only $20!
The preserved boxwood garland and wreath are from Target and I love the subtle festiveness that they lend to Christmas decorations. I’ve had the boxwood wreath since 2016 (I first blogged about it when I shared our Christmas decorations in 2016) and it is still in fantastic shape, and the garland is from last year and it still looks brand new. Even though they’re real they seem to be quite durable and long lasting. Both are still available too! I hung the wreath with a suction cup hook and used florist wire to attach the garland. I tied a simple bow out of wire edged ribbon and used florist wire to attach that to the wreath.
I’m wearing my favorite style of top these days- the Dudley Stephens Park Slope fleece turtleneck. It’s so comfortable (it’s fleece, after all!) yet incredibly chic due to the structured neckline. I have it in a number of colors but think that this red one is so fun for the holidays. If you’re interested on buying your first one send me a note and I can share a $25 off referral code with you! I also have on my favorite black jeans and I’m wearing the small (and affordable) gold hoops that I bought during Tuckernuck’s recent Black Friday sale. It’s a pretty simple outfit but perfect for a day at home or out and about this holiday season! My monogrammed mug (which matches my bedding) is only $12.50 and it’s been my go-to this season for my morning coffee.
The mirror was an antique mall find (I blogged about it here), the headboard was a Facebook marketplace find (that I painted, see the blog post about it here) and the dresser was a thift store find that I painted (see the blog post about it here) and we originally had it in Jack’s first nursery with the hutch that came with it on top. This mirror looks like it would get you a similar look and it’s only $70! The little circle baskets are from IKEA and the lamp is old from Target. The navy velvet curtains are from IKEA, and I love our simple gold curtain rod and rings (both on Amazon prime). I removed the clips from the rings and used drapery hooks to elevate the look a little bit.
