Looking Back on Our Lowcountry Wedding

elegant wedding photos

Today is our 6th wedding anniversary, and I recently realized that I never shared more than one or two photos of our wedding here on the blog!  So in honor of the best day of my life, here are some of my very favorite photos from our wedding.  It was the most beautiful fall day in the Lowcountry of South Carolina and everything from start to finish was perfection thanks to skillful planners who helped us plan while we lived in the DC area, a talented husband and wife photography team, and a backdrop that was simple yet breathtakingly beautiful.  Here are the details:

Location: Beaufort, SC

Wedding Venue: Old Sheldon Church Ruins

Reception Location: The Beaufort Inn

Photography: Landon Jacob Photography (a mix of film and digital photos)

Number of Guests: 100

Season: Fall

Wedding Planning: Southern Graces

Flowers: Southern Graces (flowers were a mix of white antique roses, hydrangeas, succulents, magnolia leaves and eucalyptus)

Food: Southern Graces (we had a shrimp and grits bar, heirloom tomato caprese station, southern antipasta board, and all sorts of Southern and lowcountry specialties)

Cake: Southern Graces – Just a simple 3 tiered cake with classic white buttercream, a strawberry w/champagne layer, lemon layer and a white cake layer.  The topper is a 1950s era cake topper of an Army officer groom and his bride.  I come from a long line of Army officers and my mom’s parents had this one on their wedding cake (my grandfather was an Army officer), my parents used it on their wedding cake (my dad was an Army officer), and we used it on our cake because Tom (and I) are Army officers.  I love a piece that tells a story!

Dress and Veil: David’s Bridal

Fur Stole: A vintage thrift store find

Earrings: J.Crew

Heels: Kate Spade New York

Sandals I wore for Reception: Monogrammed Jack Rogers

Groom’s Suit: J.Crew

Flower Girl and Ring Bearer Outfits: Crewcuts

Maid of Honor (no other Bridesmaids): My Mom

Best Man (no other Groomsmen): Tom’s Dad

Officiant: My Grandfather, a retired Army Chaplain and Methodist Minister

Music for Ceremony: Beaufort Youth Orchestra

Music for Reception: Double V Entertainment (DJ)

Music Details:

Arioso – J.S. Bach

Liebestraum – Franz Liszt

Clair de Lune – Claude Debussy

Suite for Solo Cello – J.S. Bach

Seating of the Grandmothers song: Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring – J.S. Bach

Seating of the Mothers song: Somewhere Over the Rainbow – Iz Kamakawiwoole

Thank you! When we got married anyone was able to get married there, but things changed a few years ago and now you have to be a member of the Parish Church of St. Helena, which is the Anglican Church in Beaufort that owns the property.
