For those of you who move frequently (like military families do), you’re no stranger to living out of a suitcase for a while. Packing is always so stressful when you know it’ll be 2-3 months before you’ll see the rest of your closet, and there are so many things to take into account while packing. Seasonal changes, where you’ll be, what you’ll be doing, stuff for lounging, exercising, sleeping, etc. Anyway, I figured I’d share what I packed for our time in living in limbo between living in Hawaii and moving to the DC area. (And honestly, because we’re all social distancing and not going anywhere the majority of what I packed is really laid back stuff.) Many of the things I brought are old so I linked current or similar items below. Just click the item you’re interested in and you’ll be taken right to it!
I’ve been wearing my silver Birkenstocks or pink rubber Birkenstocks on repeat (what’s new? lol), I brought 2 sweater blazers for chilly days, I have 3 of my go-to t-shirt in white, stripes and camo (I size up for a slouchier fit), a rain jacket with striped lining (bought in Ireland but it’s similar to this one), button front pajamas (great for nursing), super soft LAKE pajamas (pricy but worth it if you’re in the mood for a splurge), a couple of my favorite workout tanks, my beloved Amazon colorfulkoala leggings for exercise and lounging, the Amazon Daily Ritual sweatshirt I could live in (size up 1 size), an affordable eyelet button front shirt, high rise denim shorts (mine are old but these are the current ones, I believe), a striped boatneck long sleeve tee (mine is old but this one is current), a solid white boatneck long sleeve tee, a fun striped swing sweatshirt, a couple swimsuits, a classic striped rash guard, an affordable button front shirt that can also be used as a swim cover-up, and a few other things, as seen below. It’s basically the compressed version of the most-worn items in my closet, and 2+ weeks in it has served me well! We’ll see how the next month and a half go. (I have ordered a couple things since we got here and I’ll share those items soon.)
