A few weeks back I shared how I updated our bedroom with the addition of a vintage rattan headboard that I found on Craigslist and then painted. We are still in love with the headboard and I’m so glad I finally own a real one! We made due with a wooden screen or nothing at all for years and years so it’s nice to finally feel like a grown up 🙂 Since that last update I found a really great wicker bookcase at Goodwill for about $16…and needless to say I couldn’t pass it up! It is now a space that holds my jewelry, my nice purses, my scrunchies (which are displayed in a vintage blue willow bowl that I bought at a flea market in Kansas), and a few books and decorative magazines. It’s a piece I never knew I needed but now I’m so happy to have this little space of my own.
Blue and White Bedroom Update
The Classic Style book in some of these photos drew me in with the title and the cover art. The illustrations inside it are beautiful and simple and I really like Kate Schelter’s thoughts on classic style!
I also hung a simple wall rack of hooks that I used to hang my straw bags and a few of my hats. I don’t know why I didn’t think to add one here earlier because it’s a great way to free up space in our small closet and it looks pretty too. I have this same wall rack in our entryway too for backpacks, beach bags and reusable shopping bags. The sun hats that are hanging here are my favorites and I’m seen wearing them in pretty much every other Instagram post. They’re adjustable and packable too! Seriously can’t say enough good things about them. I’ve had the navy Longchamp tote for around 8 years and it’s one of those pieces that will last forever and will never go out of style. (I used it all over Ireland in this recent blog post.) I’ve owned the basket bag for a while but it was painted recently by The Monogram Corner. Such a fun and preppy addition to a simple and classic bag!
I also decided to hang a vintage mirror that I’ve had for a while 5 years over the bed. I don’t know if it’s the perfect match (maybe once we move back to the mainland and buy a home I should paint the mirror white and then wallpaper our bedroom in something like this wallpaper Kelly in the City is using in their master bedroom???) Anyway, it’s a nice solution for now and I’m happy with our cozy little bedroom.
Finally, I found a really pretty set of blue and white floral sheets at TJ Maxx. They’re Ralph Lauren and really help tie the room together, I think! I really like navy and French blue together, so I was really happy to snag these! These sheets from Target are equally as gorgeous though, and I’ve linked a number of items below to help you get a similar look that I have here. Most of the stuff in our home has been pieced together from thrift stores, TJ Maxx and Target over a number of years, but you can always create a similar look quickly if you’re willing to spend a bit more. I love a splurge piece on occasion but I enjoy a diamond in the rough at a thrift store even more 🙂
I love how crisp blue and white look together!

I do too! It’s such a timeless combo that can do no wrong in my book!
