North Shore Trip and Tassel Earrings

Outfit Details:
dress (old from J.Crew Factory and worn backwards) | earrings c/o Shelby Dillon | sunglasses (best sunglasses ever and I’ve had them for over 5 years and haven’t lost them!) | Caroline’s bow c/o Belle and Bug Bows (Heather and I met on Instagram and she now makes the cutest bows!)

Last week we ventured up to the North Shore because I was feeling rather housebound.  We hadn’t been up that way since the end of June and I was really excited to see the charming town of Haleiwa and the beautiful beaches of Waimea Bay and Sunset Beach.  The first mistake we made was getting a late start.  Tom and I took turns running that morning and I don’t think we got in the car until after 10:30…just 30 minutes before Jack typically goes down for a nap.  The trip went downhill from there.

Once we got up to Haleiwa we parked and went to one of the shrimp trucks.  For those of you who have never been to the North Shore of Oahu, shrimp trucks are a pretty famous part of the whole experience.  There are quite a few nowadays and they all sell styrofoam containers of fresh local shrimp, rice and a little bit of salad.  They have a few different flavors and Tom and I always get one spicy plate and one garlic plate and then share.  These shrimp are soooooo good and I really can’t make the trip to Haleiwa without getting some.  Thank goodness we snapped a few pictures here because the rest of the trip quickly devolved because of a fussy baby and a toddler who wouldn’t nap.  We finally got back in the car without even walking around town (meaning no delicious shave ice for dessert…so sad!) and by the time we passed beautiful Waimea Bay (see my photos from our trip there a few months ago) Jack was finally falling asleep so we knew better than to stop.  I had really wanted to swim there but it just wasn’t in the cards that day.  We ended up just driving around the island all the way to Kailua which is where one of the two Whole Foods Markets is located.  Caroline was fussy and Jack was unruly so after we ate some gelato Tom did some speed shopping and I went back to the car to feed Caroline.  Then we sat in rush hour traffic on the way home.  Yay.  In all seriousness though, despite the trip being stressful and not even going remotely as planned it was still nice to get out of the house as a family.

For today’s Mommy Monday post I’m sharing a cute brand called Shelby Dillon.  Shelby is a Southern-born artist and mom who has lived all over the world, including Southeast Asia and Brazil.  She’s all about embracing your adventure, and her whole shop is full of pretty earrings, adorable clutches, whimsical original artwork and prints (I’m obsessed with these colorful palm prints) and beautiful pillows.  These Calypso Earrings that I’m wearing are so fun and really liven up any outfit.

Be sure to check out the blogs of my Mommy Monday girls to see how they style their Shelby Dillon pieces 🙂

I have this same J.Crew Factory dress (in blue) and never would have thought to wear it backwards! I can't wait to try that next spring! (Thanks!)

I have the striped one too and love it! I was desperate to stop wearing maternity clothes and saw this in my closet and decided to give it a shot backwards. It works so well! I hate how difficult it is to find cute nursing-friendly dresses. Hope it works well for you too!
