I’ll be honest, while I love living in Hawaii I truly miss fall/early winter fashion. I hate the cold but love when there is a little briskness in the air (something we don’t often have here). For this Mommy Monday post I’m sharing a mom-owned brand with you that I first learned about over a year ago (when I shared this shift dress with you). BURU is a clothing brand created by Morgan Hutchinson, a stylish and edgy mom of two who is determined to help you elevate your mom style and help you embrace every phase of motherhood. I don’t think I have an edgy bone in my body but I love how the clothing from BURU helps push me out of my comfort zone a little bit. Plus pretty much everything is breastfeeding friendly which is so amazing because of the phase of life I’m in right now. The ruffled sleeveless shell I’m wearing under my sweater is a fun way to jazz up any outfit this holiday season and it’s even designed to also be worn backwards so that you can nurse in it! Seriously, it can be worn alone, under a sweater, over a button-down, forwards, or backwards. It’s so versatile! I also love the BURU high-rise vegan leather leggings, this snap front tee, and this pearl party skirt.
Everything else I’m wearing here is really old. I find that if you buy classic pieces they’ll last you year after year. The skirt was from Banana Republic from about 5 years ago. While no longer available, this skirt is very similar. And as for the sweater, I honestly own this exact one in about 9 different colors. They are so soft, fit extremely well, and can be dressed up or down. Thankfully this style is still carried (although this year’s version is long sleeved rather than 3/4 length), so scoop yourself up a few for this winter! Oh and I’m all about statement studs with pearl finishes. My go-to the past few years has been a simple pair from Kate Spade (similar) but I’m obsessed with this Lisi Lerch button pair I’m wearing here because they’re bigger and more intricate. Also, since I’m only 2 months postpartum and have about 12 pounds left to lose I’m wearing my postpartum corset because it’s the only way this skirt would fit…plus the skirt is pulled up much higher than I’d normally wear it because that’s the only way I could close it 🙂
Be sure to check out my Mommy Monday girls to see how they style their BURU pieces!
Thank you, Lindsay! I'm wearing a small, which is my normal pre-baby size. I'm still about 10 pounds heavier than I was pre-baby and my breasts are a bit larger because I'm breastfeeding so right now the shell is a tiny bit snug. Not uncomfortable though and probably better since I like layering it under slim fit sweaters. Hope that helps!
Those leopard shorts are adorable!
Thanks Kait! It's actually an old skirt that I had to pull up really high to zip it all the way up…probably a little short on me right now lol
Love the ruffled shell! Simple yet elegant! How is the sizing for it?
