Weekend Recap

This past weekend was a gorgeous one in Kansas, and we seized the opportunity to get outside on Saturday.  We wanted to have a picnic outside, and picnics require fun picnicy food, so we drove 45 minutes to Trader Joe’s and stocked up on cheese, a baguette, fresh fruit, and other yummy necessities.  We went to Loose Park in Kansas City, Missouri and it was the perfect spot for a picnic.  There is a large rose garden (which obviously isn’t blooming right now), but I’m sure it’s beautiful in the summertime!  There were lots of play areas, a rubberized trail around the park that we walked on after eating, and it looked like a really popular place to be, especially on an abnormally warm and sunny February day.

On Sunday we walked to church on Fort Leavenworth but had to leave shortly after we got there because Jack had a blowout and I forgot a change of clothes.  It all went downhill from there and by the end of the day all 3 of us had a nasty stomach bug and I spent most of the night throwing up.  Nothing like a humbling stomach bug to make you lose all sense of dignity and pride.  Miraculously we all survived, but Sunday was a difficult day because Jack felt better and Tom and I were still recovering.  It wasn’t exactly the way we envisioned spending a gorgeous long weekend, but the little bit of sunshine we did get to enjoy was a welcomed reprieve from the cold and windy winter weather.

Oh goodness! I am so glad you were able to get out and have a nice picnic before the stomach bug invaded. I hope you all are feeling better.
