Looking Chic While Traveling Lightly

When I travel I like to pack as lightly as possible.  (Although my husband would probably say otherwise.  It may not be light to him, but it’s light to me!)  One of my tricks is to decide on just one dark base color that I’ll repeat throughout the trip.  This eliminates the need to pack both black and navy blue accessories, shoes, etc.

For our recent trip to San Diego I went with navy blue as my base color.  My casual navy jacket, blue and white striped loafers and navy Kate Spade bag were basic, versatile pieces that I was able to mix and match with all of my outfits for the week.

Above are two of my favorite looks from the trip that incorporate all three pieces.  Don’t be afraid to mix two different stripes together!  It’s a fresh way to play up the nautical trend.  And speaking of a nautical trend, how darling are these mismatched Chloe and Isabel earrings?  Once on the Chloe and Isabel website (this link is to Dora’s boutique) just click on the “Shop All Jewelry” tab and scroll down to the “Maritime Knot + Anchor Studs” to get this same pair.  They are perfect for Spring which is right around the corner!

Great tips! I'm the same way about packing. I travel so much for such short periods of time, having a couple of set colors or items to last the trip makes the load so much lighter. 🙂

Thanks for reading Ashleigh Jean! And I'm so glad to hear you agree! It really is much easier when you travel lightly, even though it's always so tempting to thrown in an extra pair or two of shoes 🙂
