Have an Idea for Content? Let me Know!

Happy Friday everyone!  So…I need your help.  Sometimes I feel like I’m writing without much focus or plan (probably because I haven’t quite committed to a content planning calendar like I should), and I want to make sure I’m giving all you wonderful readers what you want to see.  (In the Army we would call this an azimuth check (a land navigation analogy making sure you’re going in the right direction and haven’t strayed off course.))

Am I on the mark?
What type of posts do you enjoy the most?
Is there something you don’t enjoy?
Or do you have a specific decorating problem you’d like some help with?
Or a great idea for me to write about?

Please let me know!  I want to provide the best content I possibly can, and most importantly I want to be helpful and inspiring and I want you to want to read it!  If you’d leave a comment with your thoughts I’d realllllly appreciate it.  Or if you’re more of the private type please shoot me an email at katie@lifewithadashofwhimsy.com.  Y’all are the best and I can’t wait to see what sort of ideas you have!

Have a great weekend y’all!

I think sometimes it helps to have a bit of a cadence, maybe a certain topic you do on Wednesday or Friday, so people come back for the consistency. My friend Kaelah (thecluelessgirl.com) does Things I Love Thursday, balanced with DIY posts, style posts, etc.

I'd love to see a regular rotation here of 1) things you're doing in your current space via DIY, shopping, etc., 2) your personal style (outfits, accessorizing etc.), 3) beach house things you're doing, 4) things you've found online that you love, websites you love, where you source your stuff, etc. Plus all the rest of the stuff you want to write! 🙂

Katie, I love the variety of your blog posts and always look forward to new ones! If you're looking for specific ideas I'd love to see what your new home looks like. Do you have a workspace designated in your home? and any organization tips you have – I loved your jewelry tray idea and I'm really intrigued by the shelving you showed on Instagram!

    1) I think the whole "get this look for less" is a great concept. I often fall in love with pricey items that just don't fit the budget 2) Recipes you've made yourself – I usually scroll through when bloggers post recipes from elsewhere 3) With the holidays coming up, I think gift guides could be fun (but maybe I'm the only one who shops ahead this early?)

But I love when you do DIYs! Can't wait to see the wedding pictures!

I agree with Aubrey. I think dedicating a certain topic one day a week that your followers look forward to each week is a great idea.

Maybe another suggestion would be to have people who need help decorating a certain space within their home, could give you a budget and allow you to work your magic helping them decorate a space. To me, this would be an enjoyable read!

Whatever you do, I will be following along! Happy Blogging!

    3) Gift guides and budget finds
    4) Exercise and workouts
    5) Positive thoughts…I really admire your tenacity and outlook on life!
    6) Quick DYI projects
    7) Fun decor items

    Happy Blogging! – Julia

Honestly, I like reading about your life the most! You are such a strong, wonderful, smart, fit, beautiful lady and you have such an amazing life journey. I'm an Army Captain, as well, and have some mutual friends who went to West Point with you. You are so incredible and such a great role model. It really takes guts to be as candid as you are to an unknown audience and I really admire that. Also, I have to say that I think it's especially moving that you decided to keep your late husband's name along with your new. [I promise I'm not a creepy stalker!! 🙂 ] I wish there were more fellow female officers in the Army like you. But, I'll still read whatever else you post! haha

Thank you so much for the suggestions Aubrey! I will definitely take these to heart and will incorporate these ideas into my posts! (You're so right in suggesting some sort of consistency…right now I just post next whatever post I happen to finish…but I need a plan!) Thanks for reading!

Thanks Natalie! I will definitely share my entire home once I get a handle on a few trouble spots (and find a home for some clutter!). I just recently finished my desk area, so that should be coming up within the next few weeks. Lighting in that room is a little weird, so my amateur photography skills are being challenged!

That is a great idea! I love budget finds and "getting the look for less," so that's a wonderful idea for a series. I love to cook and often have recipes that I want to share…but I get so hungry while cooking and end up not taking pictures (plus I "eyeball" all the measurements so that makes it hard to recreate). I will definitely try to share some recipes of mine on the blog though. Gift guides will be coming soon! Thanks so much for reading!!!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm working on decorating for a client right now (on a budget) so I'll share that once I'm all finished. I love helping people with just a little styling! Thanks so much for reading!

So glad you enjoy the blog, Julia! I will definitely try to hit some of these neglected areas a bit more, so thanks for the reminder!

Thanks so much! And thank YOU for your service! I truly appreciate your kind words and I promise I'll continue to be candid and honest. Thanks for reading and happy Veterans Day 🙂

I'm trying to redecorate my bathroom and kitchen – a post about decorating tips for either of those rooms could be fun? Also, any favorite running shoes or running gear? I love your blog and your style – thanks for writing and sharing!!!

Love what you're doing! Keep doing it! Love seeing bits of your home, DIYs and your new style posts.

I'm totally guilty of not taking my own advice…. I am very random on my own blog, and that's why I don't have a niche following! Though I *try* not to do back-to-back restaurant reviews, sponsored posts, etc. 🙂
