On My Mind…Lately

Well this sure has been an emotionally draining week!  I’m back home now, and ready for a nice, quiet weekend.  Here are some of the things that have been on my mind this past week.

Tory Burch Reva Ballet Flats.  While West Point really is in the middle of nowhere New York, by some miracle it happens to be about 20 minutes away from the world’s best outlet mall,Woodbury Commons (they have Tory Burch, Kate Spade, Burberry, Vineyard Vines, Lululemon…and many much higher and much lower stores).  I was able to spend a little time there, and snagged a couple pairs of Tory Burch Reva flats, at a fraction of the retail cost.  I highly suggest these shoes, although you have to make sure they fit properly otherwise they will hurt your feet (I can speak from experience because I have an old pair that I bought a size too small…).

Succulent Party Favor.  How darling is this succulent party favor?  Not that I’m planning a wedding, but it would be great as a favor and place card.

Berry Parfait with Whipped Coconut Cream.  I make yogurt parfaits with Greek yogurt, berries and granola for breakfast all the time, but this parfait with whipped coconut cream sounds amazing and is on my to-do-list to try.

Pillow Shams from Biscuit-Home.  Aren’t these pillow shams to die for?  I really would love to change up all my bedding to something with more pizzazz, so I’ll likely choose fun sheets, shams and a duvet cover from Biscuit-Home.

1LT Dimitri del Castillo Scholarship.  My late husband, Dimitri, has been at the front of my mind this past week because of my presentation at West Point.  This scholarship was created in remembrance of Dimitri, who was an Army Ranger that was killed in Afghanistan.  It provides college scholarships to the children or un-remarried spouses of other fallen Rangers.   100% of the donations go toward the scholarship fund.  I’m sure he would be happy to know that he continues to help others, even though he is no longer here.  If you’ve been looking for a way to donate this year, please check out the scholarship.

    Katie,
All I can say is thank you. Thank you for giving of your life and the life of your precious husband, to serve our country and to fight for the freedom that we enjoy here and that all people deserve to have. I have been reading your blog faithfully since your feature in The Everygirl. I live in Arlington and sometimes I think, maybe I will bump in to you in town!:) You are a hero and so was Dmitri. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Esther

I totally agree with Esther. Thank you seems inadequate for the service and sacrifices so many have given. I used to date a LTC Ranger ~ quite a life I must say! Love the items shown above.
