The Perpetual Redecorator

If you follow me on instagram you probably saw that I was sick at home for a few days two weeks ago.  I felt like a zombie, and the most I could do was camp out on my couch and nap and watch TV.  All my time on the couch gave me lots of time to stare at all my different vignettes on my tables.  This, in turn, filled me with a huge desire to redo everything.  By the time Saturday rolled around I was feeling a bit better, but the rainy weather kept me indoors.  What better way to occupy my rainy weekend than by cleaning my apartment and redecorating all the surfaces!  I redecorated my dining room table (which I posted about last week), a few cubbies in my bookshelf, a small tray table, the coffee table and a chest of drawers.  When I redecorate I do a lot of back and forth with objects, trying out different combinations until I reach the prettiest result.  If someone watched me scurry around my apartment I’d probably drive them crazy, which is why I prefer to work alone with nobody watching!  How do you like the updates?  I’m pretty happy…for now!

This little heart artwork is actually a card that my sweet boyfriend gave me, and I put it in a Crate & Barrel magnetic acrylic frame.

I’ve had this round tray for 5 years and have never used it.  I have no idea why because I love how it looks here!

This brass pineapple is an old ashtray.  I’m not a smoker but I think it’s pretty and fun.

I just bought these agate bookends at TJ Maxx for $12.99 each.  What a bargain!

I got this brass and lucite candlestick for $5 at an antique shop!  A similar pair was in a photo in the latest Domino Magazine…and they likely cost a whole lot more.

I love how you style everything. It looks so chic but homely also (the kind of place I would love to visit 😉
Hope the homesickness has left you now. It's a terrible feeling isn't? It just seems to come and go as it pleases (like an unwanted house guest 😉

Can I ask where you got your coral? I have found similar pieces, but they are never the right color.

Hi Lindsay, it's from TJ Maxx! They get cute ones from time to time with neat acrylic bases.

Thanks Zelle! The card was just too pretty to put away, plus I'm super sappy and sentimental 🙂

I love the update! Love the idea of framing a card, it looks wonderful! I love your coffee table too! I was sick for two weeks about a month ago and ended up doing the same thing – but with my hair. I cut my bangs off right after I was well enough to go out.

Your style is so fabulous! I have similar agate bookends and I just love the way they mesh with your more modern pieces (and with Julia Child's cookbook–she is the greatest!).

I'm exactly the same way when it comes to decorating – I've probably run a good marathon or two re-decorating things! Those book ends are a fabulous find.. I've never liked TK Maxx (as it's called here) for clothes, but maybe I should go check them out for decor – thanks!
    Happy Easter! xx Johanna

Katie, hi!! I was wondering if you could help me find a bookshelf similar to yours? Or where yours is from? I love that it doesn't have a back. Thanks so much 🙂
