I’m on a little bit of a blue kick right now. To be exact, I’m really into the color combo of blue and pink. I guess when I think about it I’ve been into blue and pink for a while…considering that my wingback chairs are pink and my sofa is blue ikat! When I saw the the cover of House Beautiful’s March issue I absolutely fell in love (I know it came out a while ago but I just recently got a chance to read it). The cover shows a lovely blue, pink and white room (with fun matching letters), and everything is simply perfect. Isn’t this so fun?
The home was designed by Amanda Nisbet, and all the pink and blue makes me think it’s just the prettiest color combination around (at least until I fall in love with something else).
This lovely home inspired me to redecorate my dining room so that I could add some fun blue and pink to my white marble table. All the gold candlesticks were nice for winter, but I wanted a fresh look for spring! This is what my table looked like before:
Dining room tables really are one of my decorating weaknesses. I have not really mastered the art of decorating a table, and it’s always a struggle when I try to figure out what to do. This time, I just decided to throw caution to the wind and use unexpected items I had around my house. I don’t own any blue and white vases so I decided I’d use a few of the blue and white items I had in my bookshelf: a funky blue and white teapot (thriftshop find!) and a ginger jar (of sorts). I also used an antique pitcher my mom bought for me on her last trip to Germany, as well as an antique hobnob milkglass vase. I’m a sucker for pretty flowers, so I knew some pink and white flowers would be the perfect finishing touch. Turns out, once I stopped stressing about it I was able to create something I absolutely loved! Here is my new and improved table:
I am so in love with my new tablescape!
Antique hobnob milkglass vase with a tiny baby tulip! So cute huh?
Pitcher my mom bought in Germany.
See the tiny little spout on this giant tea pot? So funky!
This new look is so fun and fresh isn’t it? Now if only the weather would cooperate!
Amanda, thank you so much for sharing this. You're right, it does look like my house! Once I saw it I knew I had to buy it because I think it'll be fun to hang in my house, especially once I move and hang my recently purchased big pink painting over my couch!
This watercolor print embodies the blue & pink and even looks a bit like your house! Maybe you were her inspiration!
