DIY Marble Cheese Board

Ok I’m not exactly sure if this qualifies as “DIY,” but I AM taking something that is meant for one thing and using it as another.

One of my favorite things to serve whenever I entertain is a cheese board.  I typically serve it on a wooden cutting board, but recently I decided that I wanted to upgrade to something sleeker.  After checking out some inspiration on the internet, I decided to head on over to Home Depot to see what I could find for a fraction of the cost.  This slate cheese board from Williams-Sonoma was my source of inspiration…for $44.95…which is a little more than I wanted to pay.

I went with the intent of buying a slate tile to use because I thought it would be a nice contrast to the light colored cheese.  Unfortunately, the slate was a little funky colored and it was flaking a little too much for my liking (call me crazy, but I did not want to accidentally eat shards of slate with my cheese!).

So, my back-up plan was to check out the marble tiles, which turned out to be absolutely perfect!  Plus they match my lovely marble top table.

These tiles cost a mere $3.99 each!  What a steal, right?  Much better than $79.99 for this one from Williams-Sonoma:
Check back in on Thursday so that you can learn how to create and serve the perfect cheese board at your next party.  It’s tasty and easy and you don’t want to miss it!

Love it. I am obsessed with cheese and have wanted to buy a cheeseboard I can write on with chalk.

I wish I could write on this board with chalk. I love the boards that can do that too!
