So now that you’ve gone out and bought your marble tile cheese board, I’m sure some of you are asking…what do I put on this thing? Well, there are so many different cheeses to choose from, but that’s what makes it fun! My rule of thumb is to include one hard cheese, one soft cheese, and one cheese that is in the middle. Here are my favorite cheeses to use:
Hard Cheese: Parmesan, Una Kase Robusto (at Whole Foods and it’s amazing), Manchego
Medium Cheese: Gouda, Italian Truffle Cheese (from Trader Joe’s and if you like truffle you’ve gotta try it)
Soft Cheese: Blue Cheese, Brie, Goat Cheese (currently obsessed with the blueberry vanilla goat cheese from Trader Joe’s)
Fun Additions:
Meat: Salami, Prosciutto, Serrano Ham or Chorizo are my usual choices.
Sweet Spread: Either a spicy fruit chutney or honey.
Fruit: I typically go with slices of apples, strawberries, grapes or pears.
Crackers or Bread.
Extras: Walnuts or pecans and dried cranberries. These aren’t what you’ll normally find on a cheese board, but I just love the combination of fruit, nuts and cheese, like in this to-die-for baked brie recipe.
I use some of the little bowls and plates I’ve collected over the years to hold the smaller items, and add some color. Simple huh?
Next time you host a get-together, try your hand at creating a cheese board! So simple to create, but very fun to eat and it’ll make your guests feel fancy, even if they are eating off of a tile from Home Depot! Bon Appetit!
