Like most young adults (27 is still young right?), I currently rent the apartment I live in. I love almost everything about my apartment, but sometimes I think it would be nice to be able to customize some things so that everything wasn’t so generic. I can’t modify anything permanently, but there is definitely some room for improvement (with a bit of creativity!). I don’t have uplighting over my kitchen cabinets, but I love the look and feel that it provides. My cheap and sneaky trick? Add a strand of lights to the top of your cabinets!
Mine are a strand of outdoor umbrella lights from World Market. This quick and easy fix has a dramatic impact, yet it’s temporary and cheap! I plugged the lights into the spare outlet where my microwave is plugged in, so the cord is completely hidden. Such an easy truck huh? Give it a shot to add a little custom-built detailing to your home (and skip the ivy…it’s VERY 1990’s and you can do better)!
I'm so glad I am not the only person to do this. It makes a huge difference in the kitchen, and nobody has to know it's Christmas lights!
